The Series would then head to Detroit for a final blast around the Belle Isle Street Circuit on 5 June, before heading across to Wisconsin to contest the 2022 Grand Prix of Road America on 12 June. ![]() Proceedings in Indiana would open with the 2022 Grand Prix of Indianapolis on 14 May, before the 106th Indianapolis 500 on 29 May, the highlight of the season. The 2022 Grand Prix of Alabama was then scheduled for 1 May, before the Series camped at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the rest of the month. The sole round in Texas, and first oval race, would then be staged at the Texas Motor Speedway on 20 March, before the Grand Prix of Long Beach on 10 April after its restoration to its traditional date in April. Petersburg would be restored to its opening round status on the provisional 2022 calendar, with the Floridian city hosting the opening race on 27 February, the earliest the season had started since 2000. As a result, the provisional 2022 calendar had seventeen races scheduled, running between February and September, albeit with a mild dread that the Covid-19 Pandemic would cause major changes. The main changes came with the pre-announced return to the Iowa Speedway and the third attempt in three seasons at staging the Grand Prix of Toronto, meaning the Texas and Detroit races became single-headers. ![]() The first version of the 2022 Ind圜ar Series calendar would be released on 19 September 2021, and featured several major changes from the 2021 campaign. Such a feat had been completed six times in the previous seven seasons, while PeopleReady would also offer $10,000 to the winner of each race, which was to be split between team and charity too. The season was set to be the final year of competition for the 2.2 litre V6 twin-turbo engine formula, as well as the last season for the 2018-spec version of the Dallara DW12 chassis. The 2022 Ind圜ar Series, formally known as the 2022 NTT Ind圜ar Series, is the 27th edition of the NTT Ind圜ar Series and 111th season of premier single-seater racing in the United States.
